چکیده

The glycolate-oxidizing, sulfate-reducing bacterium strain PerGlyS and the syntrophically glycolate-oxidizing bacterium strain FlGlyR were studied with respect to their phylogenetic relationships on the basis of in vitro amplification and direct sequencing of 16s rRNA-encoding DNA. Strain PerGlyS clustered with representatives of the S subclass of the class Proteobacteria, close to “Desulforhopalus vacuohtus” but sufficiently distinct to preclude its assignment to this genus. These organisms, together with Desulfobufbus propionicus, represent a phylogenetic subgroup among members of the S subclass of Proteobacteria. Strain FlGlyR was found to cluster with the gram-positive bacteria with low-G+C DNA, and Desu&tobacterium dehafogenans and Desulfotomaculum orientis are its closest relatives. Other species of the genus Desulfotomaculum are phylogenetically only moderately closely related to these organisms. These results necessitate the establishment of new genera and species for these two strains. Strain PerGlyS was designated the type strain of Desulfofistis glycolicus gen. nov., sp. nov., and strain FlGlyR was designated the type strain of Syntrophobotulus glycolicus gen. nov., sp. nov.

Efficacy of superficial peeling with 70% Glycolic Acid in treatment of Acne

Background: Comedone formation has an essential role in pathophysiology of acne, therefore destroying of comedones and preventing of comedone formation is very important in acne treatment. Objective: To determine the effect of superficial peeling with 70% glycolic acid in the improvement of acne. Patients and Methods: In this open clinical trial without control group, 30 patients with acn...

Loading of Gentamicin Sulfate into Poly (Lactic-Co-Glycolic Acid) Biodegradable Microspheres

Objective: In dental treatments, use of carriers for targeted antibiotic delivery would be optimal to efficiently decrease microbial count. In this study, gentamicin was loaded into polylactic co-glycolic acid (PLGA) microspheres and its release pattern was evaluated for 20 days.   Methods: In this experimental study, PLGA microspheres loaded with gentamycin were produced by the W/O/W method....

Oxygen sensitivity of various anaerobic bacteria.

Anaerobes differ in their sensitivity to oxygen, as two patterns were recognizable in the organisms included in this study. Strict anaerobes were species incapable of agar surface growth at pO(2) levels greater than 0.5%. Species that were found to be strict anaerobes were Treponema macrodentium, Treponema denticola, Treponema oralis n. sp., Clostridium haemolyticum, Selenomonas ruminatium, But...

The Mouse Intestinal Microflora with Emphasis on the Strict Anaerobes

The various components of the intestinal microflora in the mouse become established according to a definite time sequence; the strict anaerobes are the last groups of bacteria to reach their maximum population levels, 14-16 days after birth. The multiplication of these strict anaerobes in the mouse intestine seems to depend upon the prior multiplication of other bacterial species, and coincides...

Effects of Ultrasound Irradiation on the Release Profile of 5-fluorouracil from Magnetic Polylactic co-glycolic Acid Nanocapsules

Background: Drug nano-carriers are one of the most important tools for targeted cancer therapy so that undesired side effects of chemotherapy drugs are minimized. In this area, the use of ultrasound can be helpful in controlling drug release from nanoparticles to achieve higher treatment efficiency. Objective: Here, we studies the effects of ultrasound irradiation on the release profile of 5-flu...
